What is on the Ballot August 7th?

On August 7th, 2012,  Bethel Local School District has 2 levies on the ballot:

a 2 mill RENEWAL levy for Permanent Improvements

a 7 mill REPLACEMENT levy for Operating Expenses

Both of these levies have been supported by the Bethel community in the past.

The 2 mill Permanent Improvement Levy was passed in 1999, 2003 and 2007.  Each time for 4 years.  Our school has been very frugal with Bethel's tax dollars and is simply asking the community to again support this levy and renew it for another 4 years.

The 7 mill Operating Levy also has been passed in the past.  Twice as a renewal (in 2004 and 2007) and twice as a replacement (in 1997 and 2000).  Due to state reductions in funding and the way levies work, it's necessary for Bethel to ask for a Replacement Levy this time.  The additional cost to a homeowner with a $100,000 home will be $4.44 a month, less than the cost of an entree salad at McDonald's or the cost of a sandwich at a Dayton Dragon's game.

We hope the information provided on this website will inform you as a voter on why Bethel Local Schools is requesting your support for these two levies.  If anything is not clear, don't hesitate to contact our Levy Committee Campaign Chair, Lori Sebastian at voteyesaugust7th@gmail.com OR the Bethel Local Schools treasurer Karen Newman at newmank@bethel.k12.oh.us.
